Certificate Programme in Rural Livelihoods

A capacity building initiative of BRLF and IIHMR University for developing tribal rural professionals

The Certificate Programme in Rural Livelihoods (CPRL) addresses the capacity building challenge for existing and aspiring tribal rural professionals who would potentially engage at sub-district levels in the rural development sector. The programme is carried out through NGOs, Government Institutions and initiatives, or by elected representatives of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

The Certificate Programme is for candidates/aspirants who belong to ST, DNT, NT communities from BRLF mandated regions. It is a multi-centre, multi-topic unique program with a strong bias to IT enabled field-based learning pedagogy. BRLF has joined hands with 16 knowledge partners who have come together to provide all participants an opportunity to undergo a sharply defined, practice-enriched teaching learning experience. It covers different domains of rural livelihoods wherein knowledge and skills components of these courses are imparted in field locations by the leading organisations in the sector.

The main objective of the program is to increase the reach of government welfare schemes and to address challenges in sectors such as education, health, nutrition and innovation in tribal areas, in order to ensure an integrated and focused approach to the socio-economic development of the Scheduled Tribes population in a coordinated and planned manner. Keeping in mind our core competence in the field of CSO facilitation and screening, MoTA has appointed BRLF to carry out a rigorous screening process for shortlisting proposals from different parts of the country on various themes such as education, health and innovation.

Program Design:

CPRL consists of 16 learning modules. The execution of CPRL is done in two parts.

Part I of the course aims at building conceptual understanding in key areas of focus under CPRL, as well as functional IT and language skills of participants for enhanced learning. This part of the curriculum is hosted at IIHMR University, Jaipur wherein the candidates will be exposed to a strong learning environment of a premier institution.

Part II of the programme consists of core thematic modules which are executed at field sites of knowledge partners located across 9 states of India.
