BRLF has been providing financial support to bright Adivasi students from Central Indian Tribal Belt to pursue a two-year MBA in Rural Management from School of Development Studies, IIHMR, Jaipur.
In the two years, the students learn the basics of Rural Management through a mix of classroom and field modules. In the first year of the course, the students do their two month summer internship on any topic pertinent to their course. Based on their area of interest they are tagged with different developmental organisations working in the sector. Similarly, a dissertation study is carried out by them in the second year of the course.
This initiative was started in 2017 with the extension of financial support to six tribal candidates for the MBA-Rural Management batch 2017-19. Taking encouraging lessons from the first batch, BRLF has continued its support to six and four candidates in the 2018-20 and 2019-21 batch respectively. Six tribal candidates have been supported by BRLF in the 2020-22 batch. Out of the total 22 tribal youth sponsored by BRLF, four are CPRL graduates. The remaining candidates have been screened out of the nominations received from the CSOs working in the tribal areas of Central India.
The MBA graduates are working with different organisations in the development sector like Jharkhand State Livelihoods Promotion Society (JSLPS), Sewa, Srishti, RAJEEVIKA, India Health Action Trust and PRADAN.
The main objective of the program is to increase the reach of government welfare schemes and to address challenges in sectors such as education, health, nutrition and innovation in tribal areas, in order to ensure an integrated and focused approach to the socio-economic development of the Scheduled Tribes population in a coordinated and planned manner. Keeping in mind our core competence in the field of CSO facilitation and screening, MoTA has appointed BRLF to carry out a rigorous screening process for shortlisting proposals from different parts of the country on various themes such as education, health and innovation.
